If you enjoy Great Expectations at all, you will probably LOVE the rest! You chose some really beautiful covers for the book -- I think my favorites are the first and third. They highlight different aspects of the story: the first the bleakness, the third that it really is an intriguing adventure story of a young boy.

My choice for April was Louisa May Alcott's Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom. You can see it at Chronicles of a Book EvangelistAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1646509104750532097.post-25335762349778171572012-04-16T03:14:12.894+10:002012-04-16T03:14:12.894+10:00I really like Vintage's covers, you can see th...I really like Vintage's covers, you can see they really try to choose something that suits the book. Although I can definitely see what you mean about Great Expectations' cover not being appealing.

Thanks for participating, Jacqui! :)Katherine Coxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07257141301467724458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1646509104750532097.post-7034567044610777852012-04-12T08:49:33.577+10:002012-04-12T08:49:33.577+10:00I've never read Dickens, but this is the book ...I've never read Dickens, but this is the book recommended to me for first timers. I like the atmospheric photo of the first cover, but the third one portrays the main characters. I would probably pick the last one off the shelf.

I've bought my edition on Kindle and the cover has no image.Debbie Coopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05935744781017341500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1646509104750532097.post-29272144989331005632012-04-09T19:20:23.070+10:002012-04-09T19:20:23.070+10:00That's a good insight - about most of the cove...That's a good insight - about most of the covers being bleak/dull/lacking colour to reflect the world that Dickens portraysJacquihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17094051760535537661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1646509104750532097.post-64793707065040430252012-04-07T18:48:10.656+10:002012-04-07T18:48:10.656+10:00Yay! They all seem quite bleak, I suppose to show the bleak worlds Dickens is writing about. Other Vintage covers can be very colourful but the publisher likes to theme those by the same author.

Love Miss Havisham too.KarenSihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17875454663363953921noreply@blogger.com
